Meet Monique

I was raised on the West Coast & ventured to Indiana school for both Undergrad and Graduate School. I am currently living in Houston, Texas after relocating for work post-Grad School.

My love of food started because I simply love to eat. For my 6th birthday I asked my family for Strawberries and my Grandparents showed up to my water park birthday party with a flat of of berries.

Secondly, I love seeing large novelty sized food products and statues:

Lastly, I learned I loved food as an adult when I started to cook for myself.

In the summer of 2011 I would bake on average one bunt cake every other week and packed on and additional 5-10 pounds that summer. Baking isn’t always a good friend to me.

In the winter of 2013 I found enjoyment in making weekly healthy, clean eating and mostly raw snack foods.

In the winter of 2014 I realized that having a balanced life between eating healthy, being physically active, working, socializing and sleeping is really-really-hard. A key to my balance is planning and executing my meals in advance so I can grab a container and go versus woofing down protein bars all day erryday.

Aside from eating and trying out new recipes my main hobbies include backyard beekeeping, shopping at farmers markets, visiting cafes, hanging out with my cat, Herman Bee, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Lastly, I have a few favorite places that I’d like to share with you in no particular order:

–   The San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

–   Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France

–   Pebble Beach in Carmel-by-the-sea, California

–   Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA
