I was born in Georgia and I have lived in Arizona, Texas, Idaho, and Argentina. For the past 9 years, I’ve lived in West Lafayette, Indiana. No home state for me! Home really is where my heart is and right now, that’s West Lafayette, Indiana, with this cute guy:
So I have always had a sweet tooth but cookies hold a very special place in my heart. My real love for food, other than cookies, came along with James. He introduced me to all kinds of food like sushi, Korean cuisine, and Flas Kpankaka (don’t worry – there will be a post!). So food is an adventure for us – we like trying new ethnic foods or going to a new restaurant whenever we can.
My passion for creating food came later – it developed with a lactose intolerance. I began exploring vegan dishes about a year ago and I found that I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of cooking and baking that way. It really works out for me because I don’t have to worry about the dairy in any of the recipes. Now let me just say right up front that I am not vegan nor am I totally dairy free, I’m sure I never will be, I just love cheese too much. But I do have an affinity for vegan dishes. Two of my biggest food inspirations in all this are Angela Liddon from Oh She Glows and my sister and dear friend, Britni. She is a clean eating advocate to the maximum and she single-handedly converted my entire family to green smoothies and eating a more plant based diet. It’s revolutionized the way my family eats. To Britni, I owe my enthusiasm for clean eating.
